GoA COVID19 Statistics – Tell the Story

7.16% of Albertan’s have COVID according to the Government of Alberta’s own COVID19 statistics

  • The number of COVID19 patients in hospital is on a steady decline.
  • The rates of hospitalization have dropped to the peek highs reported in January and May 2021.
  • 318,520 cases are active in Alberta out of a population of 4,442,879.
  • 7.16% of the Alberta population are infected with COVID19.
  • 4.4% are being hospitalized (all age groups).
  • 0.8% are admitted to ICU (all age groups).
  • 0.9% suffer death (all age groups).
  • 55% of all hospitalizations are between the age bracket of 70 to 80+.

So if we extrapolate and analyze this data…

The GoA has approximately 25,000 employees.

  • If 7.16% of GoA employees were currently infected with COVID19 it would equal 1790.
  • Then 79 out of 1790 would be hospitalized.
  • Then 14 out of 1790 would be admitted to ICU.
  • Then 1687 out or the 1790 could remain home until they are COVID recovered.
  • Then the remaining 23,210 healthy employees could continue to work.
  • This is without any mandatory vaccination policy.

Statistics and numbers reported to the public without an explanation of the analysis and context can create a “pandemic moral panic“.

  • No one should accept facts and figures on face value.
  • Research and discover for yourself.
  • Be critical in your thinking.
  • Distinguish between fact and conjecture.
  • Your analysis is not wrong just because you may disagree with the popular narrative.
  • It is your CHOICE what conclusion you draw from the data.
